In alignment with our commitment to building a sustainable and high-quality agricultural supply chain, Nghiep Xuan Company recently organized a technical workshop titled “Standard Operating Procedures for Export-Oriented Durian Cultivation” at our contract farming durian zone in Dak Nong province. This event is part of our broader strategy to support farmers, enhance product quality, and ensure compliance with global export standards.
Building Capacity from the Ground Up
The workshop welcomed over 100 participating farmers and agronomists from surrounding districts. With the growing demand for Vietnamese durian in global markets, particularly China, Korea, and the EU, ensuring proper cultivation practices at the farm level has become more critical than ever.
To provide comprehensive and practical training, Nghiep Xuan invited a team of distinguished experts, including:
- Southern Horticultural Research Institute (SOFRI) – offering insights on pest control, pruning, fertilization, and post-harvest handling based on years of field research.
- UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) – focusing on international quality standards, food safety protocols, and the requirements for certified planting area codes (mã số vùng trồng).
- Global Quality Consulting – guiding farmers on how to align cultivation and harvest practices with buyer requirements in China, Middle East, and premium markets.
Key Workshop Topics
The training featured both theoretical and practical sessions:
- Detailed procedures for durian farming in accordance with GlobalG.A.P. standards
- Demonstrations of disease prevention techniques using environmentally safe methods
- Soil testing and optimal fertilizer usage to ensure tree health and fruit consistency
- Instructions on harvest maturity indexing and cold-chain handling preparation
- Real-world Q&A sessions for farmers to directly interact with experts
